How cute were these little year 1’s in 2008. They are still cute, but they are now in year 6 and 5 years older. We had such fun this afternoon, reminiscing and having a little smile, at this gorgeous video. Thanks Mrs Robertson (Milani) for bringing it to our attention again.

    Student led workshops on PhotoPeach

The teachers in the 5/6 learning community, were looking years younger than normal this morning and were all wearing school uniforms…………Oh, hang on – the teachers at St Therese this morning WERE students. Congratulations to the students who led workshops in script writing, autobiographies, blogging, imovie making, braille, advertising, charades, calligraphy, procedural text, song writing, 200 word challenge, story starts, speech writing, drama and old fashioned handwriting. I have a movie I will post a little later today, which walks you around our learning space this morning and shows you how engaged all the students were.

As promised – a video from today’s workshops.

Students have been asked to watch the above youtube clip and firstly enjoy it. Secondly, we have asked the students to analyse each of the ads and to note down what strategies the producers have used, to try and persuade their audience. We are using these clips as a spring board for writing our own persuasive text – by creating an ad of our own – in small groups of 3-4.
